Roleystone Vs Jandakot Jets Springdale Park 26.06.11
Photo day saw all the Tigers arrive early, groomed and primed with ‘guns’ flexed… Despite last weeks win confidence wavered in front of the pending confrontation with the Jets, however the Roley boys came out of the clubrooms roaring…
Jets having to work hard to put the 1st goal on the scoreboard & a strong tackle from Brodie prevented the Jets getting the ball back into the goal square. While Roley failed to score this quarter they should be congratulated for their efforts & strong attack preventing the Jets from scoring also.
2nd quarter & the Jets strengths saw them pull ahead. A fabulous mark by Brayden (28) stopped the Jets at the posts. Brodie also doing a fantastic job in defence, taking solid marks & chasing the ball with the jets running hard to try & catch him. Mitchell kicked Roley’s 1st goal & Eric’s skill prevailing during this quarter, running the ball out the Jets square. Roley’s backline solid & strong proving to be an obstacle the Jets couldn’t move. An unfortunate slip saw the Jets score another goal just prior to half time. Roley 2:2 Jets 7:11
Both teams working hard to gain & retain possession of the ball this quarter. Some scrappy contesting until a mark by Jackson saw the ball to Jayden who kicked a goal. Roley came out fighting at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Strong marking from Brodie and Justin. Roley dominating the ball & some fantastic smothers from Justin. Jets chasing hard but not fast enough to stop Jackson from scoring a goal. Some impressive marking and footy from Brayden (28) & Justin. Jackson working hard to get the ball through the posts and commended for his persistence which eventually was rewarded with a goal. A great tackle by Sam M followed by a huge smother from Justin had the Jets running in circles. Sam M’s tackling & determination to gain possession of the ball making a huge impression & inspired the Tigers to all work harder. A spectacular tackle from Brodie across the goal posts prevented Jets from scoring a goal. Tigers backline consistent in stopping the Jets run. Despite defeat, the Tigers outplayed the Jets this quarter & should all be congratulated for their efforts…
Roley 3:6 Jets 9:15
