17s Rnd 2 Roleystone v's South Coogee White @ Springdale PDF Print E-mail

17s hosted South Coogee White in Round 2 and swirling wind around Springdale caused a few headaches.

South Coogee won the toss and got the 1st break , only a point but they managed to keep the ball in the 50 area. Their persistence paid off and they scored the 1st 6 points. Peter came off with a dislocated finger and went straight to hospital, Sth Coogee took advantage and ran through to score again. Tigers fought back and some great work down the wing saw the ball move forward and Gary ran hard and soccered it through. But Sth Coogee got it back ending the quarter 2 goals up.

The second quarter started with Sth Coogee on top but a great kick forward by Cody saw Michael able to run through and again soccer it towards goal - the ball rolling through for a goal. Sth Coogee runners were quick and loose we needed to man up and put some pressure on they were getting off us too easily. A great run by Gary down our wing saw Dean hold a lovely mark - the 6 points much needed, but still the Tigers needed to lift - we looked sluggish and slow, more talking by our boys was essential.  At half time the visitors were ahead by 12 points.

In the 3rd both teams came out running but Tigers were over running the ball and not sticking the marks. Chris worked really hard in the centre and set up a lovely goal. Tigers got another quick one and we were in front. Some great work by Cody saw Roley lift and right on the siren we got a point - Tigers in front by 8 points at the end of the 3rd.

In the 4th Tigers lifted their heads and we grabbed a quick goal. Sth Coogee were tiring but so were we. Ryan had a great game in the backline, Marcus lifted in the end.  Tigers claiming the game by 8 points.

A hard fought win, but alot of work to do.
