Roleystone vs. South Coogee Red
The first five minutes was fairly intense with both sides working hard to break the lockdown between both backlines. The ball ping ponged between both respective half back lines until two very strong tackles applied at left half back by Roleystone went unrewarded. The subsequent foray into the forward line by South Coogee resulted in a free kick at full forward and a goal.
Two to three minutes later through hard work, South Coogee added a second goal and a behind. South Coogee continued to work hard with numbers around the ball regularly.
Jake Bailey in his 100th game worked hard in defence.
Roleystone continually let each other down by kicking indiscriminately to opponents.
The only saving grace was that South Coogee persisted in going to the dead side of the ground and could have scored a lot more.
The second quarter started with South Coogee attacking again with Ryan H. and Nick Zav working hard. Nick's hard chase resulted in a free kick with quick entry into the forward line, where Chima kicked off hands into an open gaol.
South Coogee responded a minute later with a goal.
Throughout the contest, the Roleystone players’ inability to clear the contest with a clean handball caused many turnovers with yet another South Coogee goal.
Only one side came to play today, it wasn’t Roleystone.
The wind stopped, minutes later South Coogee goaled again, update 5.7 to 1.0.
Number 24 from South Coogee seemed to be able to run around and do as he pleased with no accountability from Roleystone.
Lack of talk around the ground from Roleystone created many silly errors.
For the next four to five minutes, the ball moved from the wing into our defensive zone. Ben and Luke both worked hard across half back.
We were consistently breaking down across the wings, not able to go further and then, Curtis won two contests on the wing and put the ball deep into the forward line with unfortunately no result.
South Coogee ran in numbers and created space, four times they peppered the goals with only behinds resulting.
Finally we broke past the wing with Jarrod, then hard running by Curtis across the left half forward, resulted in Laurie running into an open goal only to score a behind.
We went forward again just before the siren for no result.

Third quarter South Coogee scored within the first minute.
Three times more South Coogee went into deep into their forward line, after some delay a goal resulted. Ryan H. worked hard under pressure. We could not clear the area, link up via handball or by foot, South Coogee always had us under pressure.
Nobody from Roleystone was prepared to run or commit to a contest.
Too many time players would not put their head over the ball and try to pick it up. Players were trying to paddle the ball with one hand, where South Coogee attacked and committed their bodies.
Centre bounce to half back, from our half back line we then went deep into our forward line, but with no result.
South Coogee put on two quick goals, once again through hard running and attack on the ball. With seconds remaining they went forward again with a small man marking uncontested at the edge of square.
Another goal to South Coogee, three quarter time.
The fourth quarter starts, South Coogee go forward and score, 1 minute gone.
Play restarts, they attack again, Jake works hard and wins contested ball at half back. We move the ball quickly into attack, but Chima only manages a behind into an open goal mouth.
Roleystone attack again, but fail to hit targets.
South Coogee clear and go forward.
Lawrence worked hard off half back to go to Jake Bailey, once gain we could only manage a behind. From the kick in, Roleystone scramble the ball forward again for another behind. South Coogee worked hard and run the ball up the West side of the ground and score a gaol. South Coogee attack again, Doug marks the ball, clears to Lawrence, on to Courtney to Curtis and Ben soccers a major!
South Coogee keeps up the pressure and attacks again and goals.
Centre bounce, we get the clearance but only manage a behind seconds before the final siren.
