Fixture: Roleystone Vs Bibra Lake Date:6th of June 2010
Fixture Location: Meller Park Round Number: 8
Match Details: "Great improvement shown by the Tigers U14s as they shine in the first quarter against Bibra Lake"
The game started with the centre clearance won by Roleystone setting the standard for this intense competitive term of footie as both teams battled it out for control of the ball. Roleystone was able to use the ball constructively as the first goal for the Tigers went to Bryce as he booted through a mighty goal for the team effort. It didn't stop there, as a Roley missed shot on goal was a great opportunity to contest the kick out from the full back as Bryce capitalised on his effort to score another goal for Roleystone. There was some even play throughout the ground by both teams with one on one contests, which were exciting to watch as Bibra Lake who were quick on their feet, scored goals, with another put through by Michael who really got the crowd and coaching staff thrilled with the scoreboard as the Tigers this week were up for the challenge against another top team and were really putting it all in. Excellent Quarter of Football Roleystone!!!
Quarter two really was a Bibra Lake wake up term, they energised and turned on the pressure using the corridor and shutting out some of Roleystone's key players who run all game working the centre and midfield with other players having to stand up and be counted for work effort. . The direct play down the ground was noticeable as a few kicks and it was in the Bibra Lake forward fifty with a goal looming. Anthony was outstanding in defence with David and Troy exerting pressure but the Bibra lake team had the fitness and legs to keep up the running and create space down the ground to penetrate the scoreboard.
The third quarter play highlighted the match fitness need for this intensity game with inconsistency in umpiring decisions becoming more apparent which was frustrating to the team effort as the coaching staff and parents were left scratching their heads with questions Why?? on decisions as Bibra Lake appeared to gain a better outcome in the game process. The hard work applied by Callum in the game finally paid off for the team as he scored a great mark and a shot on goal for another six pointer for the Roleystone effort.
The fourth quarter and umpiring decisions were still very poor, as there was more than one team out there. Lochie, Brodie, Jamie and Clay, Connor was having a cracker of game, as was Ollie who has outstanding talent to move the ball down the ground with strong marking, running and kicking skills as he booted the fifth goal for the Tigers effort. Roleystone wasn't leading on the scoreboard but they were not giving up either - they copped the umpiring decisions with dignity and moved on with the game which should be applauded. They also had their heads held high this week.
The final score for the game was Bibra lake 16 goals, 7 points defeating Roleystone 5 goals 5 points.
