SAFETY BAY v's ROLEYSTONE @ Stan Twight Reserve
Roleystone headed south to take on the Safety Bay Stingers in Round 5 and we were eager to prove our bite was worse. The Tigers grabbed the 1st goal after winning the centre break. Our boys were sharing the ball around and finding space, keeping the ball in our forward 50. Wer were killing the Stingers in the centre, Aly N kicked a soccer goal. A 50 metre penalty resulted in a goal for Safety Bay, their 1st score with 8 mins to go in the quarter.
In the second Jim M was moved to defence, our boys were shepherding well and running hard. Monty S kicked a lovely straight goal, splitting the middle. Tony S and Paul A were holding their marks in the forward area, Josh W was winning taps in the centre. The Tigers had 7 goal scorers by half time.
Peter Riley was putting in some hard tackles, Jim M and Cody S were running the ball out of the back well. Jordan C was spoiling some marks in the Stingers forward line - keeping them scoreless in the second. Michael S had a great return from injury - kicking 3 goals to put the game well out of the Stingers reach.
The Tigers grabbed the 1st goal in the 3rd, with Alex N now winning the centre tap. Paul A was busy holding some great grabs in the forward area, Peter R snapped a good goal on the run. Monty S was busy in the midfield, setting up 6 pointers and kicked one himself. Stingers were trying hard, but our unit was tight and working well as a team.
The boys were looking for one another, helping each other, providing shepherds, running in numbers and backing up. It was a great team win, the Tigers retaining the Jim Morrisey shield. Paul A kicked 10 goals, with the Tigers winning by over 150 points.
Well done boys - great team football
