ROLEYSTONE v's COCKBURN @ Fremantle Oval

Friday night football kicked off Round Two, with Roleystone Tigers hosting Cockburn at Fremantle Oval (Yeah - go figure!!)

The boys were pumped after their win last week, but Cockburn was fast.  It was 14 minutes into the 1st before the first score was posted, a lovely round the corner shot by Tony S to bring up 6 points for the Tigers.  The goals kept coming - our boys really working hard.  Cockburn kept to one shot on goal for the whole quarter.  Tiger 20 ponts up a the break.

Cockburn came out strong in the second, but squandered lots of opportunities in front of goal.  Tigers couldnt penetrate through the midfield, but some hard running got it into our forward 50 and we grabbed 6 points.  But Cockburn were getting loose and were bumping hard, our marks werent sticking and Cockburn were running forward - they straightened their kicking and got 4 majors to our 1.  One of their players was sent off with a yellow card, but they rallid and grabbed a goal on the siren.  At half time Cockburn were just in front by 4 points.

After a rest and a talking to by Coach Sam the boys tifhtened up and put the body over the ball.  Steven C got his hands on the footy, Jim M moved further forward and made his presence felt.  Kale B, Jordan C, Alex N tightened up down back - we won the quarter , keeping Cockburn to a solitary point.  Tigers 4 points up at the quarter break.

Kale B was tackling hard and new boy Kallam M was throwing his body over the ball.  Jim M and Monty S lifted their work rate, Ben K took a great mark and slotted one through.  But Cockburn kept coming and getting in front and holding onto their marks.  They finally kicked straight at goals and got 3 to our 1 - grabbing the game in the last 2 mins, winning by 11 points.
