Round 10 26/7/09 Roleystone v's South Coogee @ Springdale Pk PDF Print E-mail

The Tigers hoped their home ground advantage would help them in their Round 10 clash with South Coogee, and our boys were ready to play with some hard work by David ending with a goal from Tony - a lovely running shot.  South Coogee hit back with 6 points, but a great run through the centre by David saw Scott grab a good mark and kicked straight.  Sean C was working really hard and alex and Black were taking some strong marks in the backline.  South Coogee only 2 points up at the 1st quarter.

Marcus grabbed some great marks and went for a long run to hassle and smother a great 110% effort.  South Coogee came out running in the 2nd and posted 4 goals quickly - 23, 29, & 9 were killing us.  Michael never stopped trying and running hard, but South Coogee had lifted a notch and we had trouble keeping up.  They had stepped up a gear and some of our boys injuries were starting to niggle.

Half time was used to raise the Tigers up and get liquids in, it worked for us as we posted the 1st goal 5 mins into the quarter.  South Coogee were using their fresh legs off the bench but the Roley boys never gave up though and a burster of a kick from Cody from the forward 50 arc went straight through the goals.

Some fantastic coaching techniques from Coach Sam during the week, where he got the boys to open up and talk to each other worked for the team.  They were a tight unit this week, looking for each other and helping each other out.  They were desperate for the ball and eager to shepherd and pressure the opposition.  We may not have got the points for the win but we were winner anyway.

Our team is a great unit, with players who always look for each other and never give up!

Well done Roley Tigers Laughing
