Round 9 19/7/09 Roleystone v's Cockburn @ Davilak Oval PDF Print E-mail

The rain poured down at Davilak Oval for the 15's match against Cockburn.  Some of the boys were still on holidays - so it was hard for Coach Sam to field a full team, but the were playing for David Smith who was celebrating his 100th game.  A great player who always trys hard and runs hard.

Cockburn got the 1st score on the board and had posted 5 straight in the 1st quarter blitz.  The goals kept coming for Cockburn, the Tigers needed to man up and show some aggression.  Cockburn were kicking straight and had 13 goals to show for it.  Tigers needed to lift their heads and play the football and run hard.

David did try and went for a run on the wing, but the back up wasnt there when he needed it.  Tom was throwing his body in and Alex was working hard, but the Tigers looked sluggish and we just could not break through to score.  Jared was trying to win the ball in the backline, throwing his body down but Cockburn were too strong and the game was all theirs by half time.

After a fire up from Coach Sam the boys showed some spirit and we scored a major.  Cockburn were relentless though and with a bench full of boys they had alot of fresh legs to choose from.

Tigers only had 15 and it was a long 4 quarters.  We needed to man up.  Chris was trying hard but he was giving away alot of height.  In the end our boys gave it their all, they played fair and showed some fighting spirit to run till the end of the game.
