Fixture:Roleystone vs Bibra lake Date:19th July
Fixture Location:Springdale Round 8

On a wet morning at the Tigers home ground Roleystone were all set to take on the Lakes after the one week footie break.

The opening of the first quarter was excitng as Roleystone cleared centre and the ball was straight down with the forward line. Great efforts by Josh R, Bryce and Simon resulted in the first point to Roleystone. A truly memorable passage of play was when Jeremy passed to Tom onto Lochie to Simon who was in range of scoring but with great vision passed to Matt in front of goals who kicked a terrific goal for the Tigers.

The play was mostly dominated by Roleystone as the ball was locked down their end with Bryce kicking to Lochie onto Jeremy passing back to Lochie kicking towards Josh R who put in a great fight as the Lakes defenders scooped up the ball near goals. A good team effort from Clay to Bryce who was looking for Cameron as it was rushed behind. It was an even competition with the Lakes a few points in front at the break.

The Roleystone Coach was very happy with the team 's performance for the opening quarter. It was said that the team needed more use of their body, to stay in front and more man on man With all that in mind the team were ready to take on the Lakes for the second quarter as the match started with the Roleystone defense getting a solid workout . The game became more physical as both teams tried to get the competetive edge. Michael, Josh H, Clay and Jamie were exerting pressure through the backline, tackling hard and using good ball movement.

The ball came down to the Roleystone fifty via Bryce, Josh R and Brodie working strong through the corrider but the forwards were unable to convert some chances near goal It would seem that Roleystone didn't get the rewards they deserved as they fought to control the ball only to be saved by the Lakes backline. All the hard earned ball clearances and attack at the ball was unanswered during this quarter. The Roley backs were working at hammer and tongs to stop Lakes from scoring more goals. Josh H, Jamie and Michael were working hard under the pressure and Troy was using his body well to defend hard at the goal square. As the siren sounds it was into the club rooms for more tactics and strategies for the next half of the game.

The third quarter was outstanding for Roleystone as the team dedicated their efforts at maximising opportunities. A stand out exchange was from Brodie to Bryce for an electrifying goal. Tom was a great contributor to the goal as well, as he sheparded the opponents so Roleystone was free to make the exchange. We saw Darian not giving up in the team effort as was Liam who on a number of occasions was tackling the other team and doing so in a brave and successful manner. A passage of play that ignited the Roleystone crowd was between Matt onto Lochie passing to Tom who lighted the fuse for a goal on the run. Roleystone dominated the play until the siren sounded.

The last quarter saw much play by Lakes in their forward fifty and the Roley defence were under the hammer. The backline showed determination and will power as Lakes turned on the heat. Roleystone secured a few points in attack with a great attempt at goal by Jamie for a behind as he moved up the field onto the wing. The Roleystone team didn't give up their effort but the few shots at goal that were not converted were costly to the score. Jeremy took a great spoil, Bryce worked his heart out as did Liam, Jamie, Simon, Michael, Adam, Lochie and Clay. The whole Roleystone team gave it their best shot on the day. Good effort Tigers.
