Roleystone Tigers ventured to the port to play the Fremantle Hawks for their first game of the season. Greeted by a very warm day the boys may well have been thankful that they had 8 on the bench. James Myall-Brown and Jack Newman were nominated by the coach as the Captains for the first half of the season and led their mates out for the first time.

Freo were quick to score the first goal, however the midfield of Mark Fraser, James Myall-Brown and Brodie Terima were involved in some good play. Brayden Walker-Lewesy and Liam Vanderlaan held strong in defence. A quick foray into the forward line saw Trent McDonnell sneak the first goal for the season.

The second quarter saw some progress by the Tigers with Walker-Lewesy taking several defensive marks, and Jayden Batley racking up many possessions across half back. Jake Spanjers also took some strong marks to thwart Freo attacks. Fraser renowned for his physicality dished out a few strong bumps and tackles. Justin Burrows in his debut showed some good run and tackling also.

The third quarter continued to see Freo have the better of the play. Jackson Morfitt came into the play, with great effort from ruckman Josh Griffiths and another debutant Daniel East. Manning up in defence and making effective leads in attack were two areas of deficiency for the Tigers.

The fourth quarter however saw Roley outscore Freo with some very good work again by Batley on the ball and East across half forward. East and Terima kicked goals with Myall-Brown continuing on with his endeavour.

The final score was Freo Hawks 70, Roley Tigers 24. Goals; McDonnell, Myall-Brown,East, Terima 1. Best Players: Batley, Walker-Lewesy, Burrows, Myall-Brown, Fraser.
