Roleystone was back at Santich Park for Round 8, this time to do battle with South Coogee Black. It was a game Roleystone could win, but the atrocious conditions would test both teams....

Roley got off to a good start - some great defence work by Cody saw the ball go forward and Josh W took a great wet weather mark and we scored first.  The rain continued to bucket down making clean possessions very difficult, but South Coogee Black scored well fromt he pocket.  The strong wind was playing havoc with shots on goal - Alex was solid in defence taking a lovely chest mark on the goal line.  Beau also worked hard, Chris put in a solid bump but the heavy oval and slippery ball was taking its toll.

The second quarter saw both teams run hard and the pressure was intense - the rain held off and South Coogee Black used the wide oval wall.  Roleystone needed to man up - South Coogee Black had too many loose men, but the rain soaked ball was heavy to kick.  Our backline was working well - our midfielders needed to step up.  Roleystone 11 points down at half time.

After some inspiring words from Coach Sam, Roleystone lifted their work rate, and scored the first 6 points.  Some fabulous teamwork from Marcus, a mark saw Tom combine with Chris to grab another goal.  Peter laid some nice marks down forward. Monty lifted his work rate and ran off his man - the Tigers in front at 3/4 time.

The rain cleared but the wind was strong - swirling around the ground.  Roleystone scored first in the last quarter, Scott lifted, David worked hard all day, capping it off with with 2 lovely goals.  Tony was valuable up forward, Michael was great.  Tigers running out winners by 40 points.

A game played and won in 2 halves.

Roleystone 9.12-66     South Coogee Black 3.8-26
