Finals fever - Come on the Tigers. We headed to Gwynne Park for the qualifying finals and 50 gamer Ryan Sutherland gave the boys the incentive to do well Go Ryan.. There was a minutes silence to respect the death of former player David Higgs (father Phil Higgs - life member of RJFC).
The weather was terrible, the rain falling in sheets, it was heavy going on a water logged park. Both teams worked hard, Alex and Beau stood tall in the back line. Tony ran hard, Cody tried all quarter. Just points for Roley and centrals on the board for this quarter.
Scott was buy and 5 mins into the 2nd bagged the Tigers 1st goal. Brandon was busy. Michael was working hard and handy on the wing. The rain let up but the ball was very heavy, both teams found it a hard slog. The Tigers managed to keep Centrals goalless, our back line stood tall and Michael stopping the ball which saw Centrals miss out on a needed goal.. Both teams were glad of the half time break.
Centrals took advantage in the 3rd and grabbed the 1st goal, there was only 1 point in it, but the Tigers fought back and Mony scored from a long run, Roley was back in front. With 4 points in it the scene was set for a tense 4th quarter.
Roleystone grabbed the first goal, some great team work, with Robert kicking straight and Brandon working very hard in the middle. The Tigers managed to keep Centrals scoreless in that quarter. Marcus was busy, Josh B lifted his work rate and Jordan was solid in defence.
Tigers ran out winners by 24 points.
Roleystone 5.10 (46) Centrals 2.4 (16) |
