ROLEYSTONE U12's vs. KWINANA U12's
The first half was dominated by Kwinana. The ball was continually thrust into the forward line creating a lot of pressure. Ryan worked hard and was solid on the last line of defence at full back. Kwinana’s team game and lots of running continually exposed our players. Kwinana through their willingness to kick long and direct was rewarded.
The second half started well with Ryan continuing his contribution in the forward line and scoring a goal early. Kwinana came back with resolve and better team play, continuing to score easily. We were exposed being second to the ball and failing to commit the body to create a contest. A positive came through some hard work by Ben H, resulting in a goal to Curtis. This was a good indication of what can happen when you attack the ball.
The difference in the game was that one TEAM came to play as a team.
ROLEYSTONE U12's vs. KELMSCOTT WHITE U12's The first five minutes of what was a fairly close contest this time around against Kelmscott. Good defensive work by Ben Ch and Nick at centre half back resulted in a goal to Laurence. Brodie worked hard through the centre and gained a heap of possessions through some good hard ball gets. Kelmscott dominated the play for a lengthy period by playing hard and running in numbers, they also regularly played in front ands were rewarded. Several forward thrusts through Nick, Ryan and Laurence were repelled easily by Kelmscott. This was a result of our half forward line continued to play behind their Kelmscott opponents. The second half started well with Nick thumping the ball deep into attack. Our forward line worked hard to hold the ball in our forward area. Nick held firm along the centre line and kicked long into attack with Ben Ch snapping a goal across his body. Roleystone continued to dominate the next period of five to seven minutes continually entering their forward line, but could not convert. Good work by Josh to contain the ball in his forward area with Ben H was finally rewarded with another goal by Ben H. Kelmscott responded quickly with a goal from one forward thrust. Brodie defended well to hold the back line together, under continual pressure. He worked hard through the centre and deep into defence. Kelmscott dominated a for a long period to the end, but some gritty defence saw our guys hold sway and WIN the game. ROLEYSTONE U12's vs. SOUTH COOGEE WHITE U12's The game started with South Coogee attacking hard and scoring a goal within five minutes. The ball had not gone past our half forward line yet. Sam and Brodie tried hard in defence. Liam worked hard to gain a possession on the half forward line which was repelled to result in another goal for the opposition. South Coogee continued to apply pressure on our defence through continual forward thrusts. Liam and Brodie worked hard in the scrimmages. Nick and Luke worked hard in defence to stem the tide. South Coogee played hard and direct football and continued to score. The second half started with us entering our forward line, only to see South Coogee respond with a quick goal. Forward thrusts by Roleystone created some pressure for South Coogee, but they held firm responding with another two goals. Ben H worked hard without much support in defence. Brodie, Sam and Nick continued to work hard to keep the ball in our forward area but for no result. South Coogee stood firm and still managed two forward thrusts resulting in goals. Ben Ch tried to inspire his team with a hard ball get and run into our forward line, once again South Coogee defended well. Another goal resulted. In summary, a good day to learn a football lesson – our opponents play good TEAM football with contributors all around the ground. Our guys need to take notice and do the same to go forward. |
