11's Rnd 12 11/08/07 Roleystone vs. Kelmscott @ Creyk Park PDF Print E-mail
Big Matty Ostler’s 50th today, all hail the Big Unit!!

Kelmscott had three quick pings at goal within minutes of the game starting, but only managed one goal for their efforts. Shortly afterwards Davo put through a major for the Tigers, quickly followed by our 50-gamer as Matt belted through his first for the day. Kelmscott kept pressing forward and Josh copped a clout in the head, but then Tom, Cameron M. and Lochie combined nicely to keep the ball progressing towards goal. Matt T. banged through a great goal as a result. Tom, Bryce, Daniel and Ashleigh were all doing well in the centre, and Cameron M. snuck in a long range goal just before the siren.

Second quarter saw Roleystone stamp their authority. Brilliant goals were scored by David and Josh E., with some near misses coming from Adam and Troy. The quarter was exclusively played out in the Tigers’ forward line, a real credit to the way our guys were playing. Cameron helped big Matty get his second for the day, a great snap over his left shoulder. A strong tackle from Jeremy saw another shot on goal, and still Kelmscott could barely get past the centre!

Matt T. – what did he have for breakfast today? – opened the third quarter with another quality goal, showing great composure and skill from a fair way out. Kelmscott replied soon after, but the Tigers were playing like a team possessed! After great work form all, Matt T. banged through his third, then two minutes later Cameron M. showed us all his party trick, a great over-the-head goal!

After a spirited start to the last quarter by Kelmscott, Roleystone soon started stringing it together until finally Bryce put a dribbling worm-burner through for a major – not textbook, but effective! Then Lochie put a drop punt right to the line where it was marked by Cameron A. and toed through for yet another goal!

The final 5 minutes of the last quarter saw Roleystone paid the highest compliment possible. Kelmscott sent all their players forward of the centre, in the words of their coach “because if you don’t, you won’t get a kick!”

Possibly our best game of the season, the highlight being the even contribution from all.
