A tight first quarter, played in cool & overcast conditions. Jandakot used the ball slightly better than the Tigers, and scored the first goal. Cameron Meldrum just missed a snap on goal, and the close score reflected the evenness of the two teams.
The sun came out in the second quarter, and the first 5 minutes were all played in the Jets’ half. Josh was proving really solid in the Tigers’ back line, and Lochie was on fire in the centre. Finally a kick by David saw the ball free in the Tigers’ forward line, and big Matty locked on to it, bowled over a couple of opposition and put through the Tigers’ first major. Quinten Lynch would have loved it! At half time Mick urged our guys to “get in there”, and go for the ball. The Jets opened the third quarter with a great long-range goal, assisted by a strong tailwind. The breeze was definitely a factor, and whichever team had it at their back was dominating play. After two quick Jets goals, Roleystone got it back up in their forward line and Matty took another strong grab and converted straight away. It was the highest scoring quarter of the day, but the Jets were on top. The final quarter saw a great string of passes take Roleystone from the back line to the forward line within about 15 seconds, and Josh hustled a kick through the thronging pack and bounced through as great goal. Bryce then showed that the cast on his arm wasn’t going to hold him back by snapping a fortuitous goal AWARDS:
