11's Rnd 9 07/07/07 Roleystone vs. Sth Coogee @ Santich Park PDF Print E-mail
Jeremy Hishon’s 50th match, and prior to the game the players formed a guard of honour as Jeremy ran  through an impressive celebratory banner. It was a warm, breezy day and Coogee opened the scoring with the first two goals of the day. Then Ashleigh broke the drought for the Tigers with her first goal for the season, and boy was she happy with her effort!! Play was centred on the wings, and Liam, Cameron A., Ben and Lochie were all getting plenty of it. Matty Ostler snapped a lovely goal from the boundary line, and only minutes later scored another form directly in front.

The breeze picked up in the second quarter, assisting Coogee and making life difficult for Cameron M.’s kickouts. The Tigers’ backs were under a lot of pressure. Troy provided good run from defense, but Roleystone just couldn’t get it past the centre. Jeremy was going in hard in his 50th, but the Coogee forwards peppered the goals and ran the Roleystone backs off their feet.

Unfortunately, Coogee scored the first three goals of the third quarter, into the wind! The flu seemed to have zapped Roleystone of their run, and once again getting the ball past the centre proved difficult. Finally Daniel had a rare Roley shot on goal, but couldn’t quite bring home the bacon.

The fourth quarter saw the Tigers give it one last hurrah and apply a bit of forward pressure, but the seemingly unstoppable Coogee were proving hard nuts to crack! Halfway through the quarter Troy broke the ice with a goal, a great reward for his hard work all day. Adam was working hard, and Cameron A. continued to have a good crack, but ultimately Coogee finished the day on top, the better team on the day.
