A big day for the Tigers under 11’s, with Lochie Luckens notching up 50 great games for the club. Lochie burst though a banner, flanked by his team-mates and despite having the flu, was determined to give it his best.
The first quarter was played in Armadale’s half, the opposition’s tall players faring particularly well. Lochie provided some good bursts through the centre, and Josh took a great defensive mark right on the goal line. The cold, rainy conditions didn’t make it easy.
Better signs in the second quarter, good stuff from Tom, Jeremy, Adam and Daniel. Matty was presenting well, and Cameron A. kept attacking.
The Tigers backline was kept busy in the third, some really committed work by Josh, David and Matt as they repelled continuous Armadale attacks. Roleystone just couldn’t get past Armadale’s half-back line, Armadale wanted the ball that bit more, and their score was reflecting just that.
A third quarter rev from the Coach seemed to have an effect, and the Tigers looked a bit more threatening. After some good work in the centre of the ground, 50-gamer Lochie put Roley’s first goal on the board, much to the delight of the Tigers’ supporters! David was putting his body on the line, but in the end Roley’s endeavour just couldn’t get them over the line.
Special mentions to Anthony, Cameron A. and Cameron M. – all copped some hard knocks, but bravely came back onto the ground to finish their work.
