As the teams lined up for this game we were sure that we were seeing double

Armadale ran out with an amazing 26 players to verse our regular starting team of 18.

1st Quarter
As the first ball up took place, so started the rain giving the team their first real taste of what they can expect to play in for approx half of their football careers. Our first score was a point scored after much of the play through and around the centre of the ground. Much of the next 7 minutes was spent in our forward line without conversion. Then came our first goal kicked after a good mark by Kieran. Armadale’s first real attack resulted in a goal after our backline repelled two previous attacks across the half back line with some good marking and tackling.

2nd Quarter
The quarter time speech was given in the dry and once again, as the ball was thrown up, down came the rain both vertically and horizontally….. The first score was to Armadale which was a point through a forced behind. Again, much of the quarters play was around the centre of the ground with our Backs continuing to mark well and prevent Armadale from scoring. However they were able to kick point, with an excellent mark taken by Armadale’s centre half forward approx 20 metres out, directly in front. Armadale continued to attack and a desperate effort by Braden forced through another behind. Then, the sun came out & the siren sounded for half time. These were the only two scores for the quarter.

3rd Quarter
Again the battle was tough in the centre and we were able to work it forward. Kieren earned a free kick in front of goal and was able to convert. A great start to the quarter. Our defense continued to work well together with a great spoil by James saving an almost certain goal. Armadale’s next score was another forced behind, however in our attempt to get the ball out and to our forwards, it came back over our heads for another point to Armadale. We got the ball out of our defense successfully this time and we were back to the struggle in the centre with the ball rebounding between the half back and half forward line. We were able to clear their defense and Trent goaled after a free kick in the left forward pocket. The rain came again and the tussle returned to the centre of the ground where it spent until 3 quarter time.

4th Quarter
Our first attack was repelled by Armadale and resulted in a goal. The battle continued around the centre of the ground, however another quick break by Armadale resulted in another goal.

Armadale continued to attack and their next attack also resulted in a goal. This was their best build up to a goal for the entire match. It was raining hard & , unfortunately, it was raining  goals for Armadale, as they successfully kicked another through their Centre Half Forward who had kicked 3 of their last 4 goals. Full time sounded with the battle ending where the game started, back in the middle of the ground. “Well dome in difficult conditions were the first comments heard form the Coach” Special mention should go to the Coaches, Mum’s & Dad’s for their support throughout the very rain effected match……. Well Done !!!  and here’s looking forward to next week……. GO ROLEY !!
